1 c Poppy seeds
1 1/2 c Milk
1 c Butter
1 1/2 c Light brown sugar
3 Egg yolks; save whites
1 3/4 c Flour
2 1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 Lemon; juice of
Pre-heat oven to 350 F.
Add poppy seeds to milk in saucepan. Heat to boiling point only.
Remove from heat; let stand 20 minutes.
Cream butter with light brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks.
Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
Bake in well-greased loaf pan for 45 to 50 minutes or 9" square pan
for 35 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
