I have learned that it IS possible. I have a prepaid cremation waiting
for me when I cease to be animate.

My brother asked me during this last go round of hospitilisation what
my wishes were. So I told him where the paperworkfor the cremation was
and gavehim a copy of my will. Basically he gets my wheels and Dennis (housemate) gets lifetime tennancy in my bungalow - then it passes to
Habitat For Humanity. Any $$$ in the bank gets divvied between the
American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, and American
    Cancer Society.

So, he looks at me and says "What about your ashes?"

I told him "If you've no ceremony that will make you feel better about
my passage, chuck 'em in your trunk and use them for traction sand next
winter. That way I'll still be useful."

Title: Whole Wheat Biscuit Mix - BHG
    Categories: Breads
    Yield: 48 Servings

    6 c All-purpose flour *
    4 c Whole wheat flour *
    1/3 c Baking powder
    1/4 c Sugar
    2 ts Salt
2 c Lard or Crisco shortening

    * It is permissible to play with proportions of white to
whole-wheat up to just 10% white flour. Any less than 10%
white flour does not seem to do well for some reason.
    ~ UDD

In an extra-large bowl stir together flours, baking
powder, sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening till mixture
resembles coarse crumbs. Store in an airtight container.

To use, bring mix to room temperature if frozen. Spoon mix
lightly into a measuring cup; level off with a spatula.
    Continue as directed in variations.

    Makes about 12 cups.

For a four biscuit batch of Basic Biscuits:

Stir together 1 cup Biscuit Mix and 1/4 cup milk just till
dough clings together. On a floured surface, knead dough
gently 10 to 12 strokes. * Roll to 1/2" thickness. Cut
with a 2 1/2" biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking
sheet. Bake in a 450+|F/230+|C oven 8 to 10 minutes or till
    biscuits are golden.

    Makes 4 biscuits.

    * Do not over-knead or you will get tough biscuits - AKA
"sinkers". My Dad was a master at making biscuits and it
really torqued my Mom's jaws that she couldn't do as
    well. Bv)=

The pre-paid cremation is, in all truth, a single-pay, single purpose

    Yield: 4 Servings

    1/2 c Olive oil
    10 cl Minced garlic
    1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Crushed red pepper flakes
    3 tb Chopped fresh parsley
    1 lb Penne pasta

I added one can of Italian tomatoes and chicken sausage

Cook pasta according to directions. In a pan slowly brown
garlic in oil (do not let burn!). Add salt, pepper and
parsley. Remove from heat. Toss Penne with garlic mixture
    and romano cheese. Serve hot.

    Serves 4 generously.

    Hello Dave,

I'm going to give my own funeral a miss if at all possible.

I think that's all of our goal. <G>

I have learned that it IS possible. I have a prepaid cremation waiting for me when I cease to be animate.

Why? Just dig a hole in the ground and have a neighbor (or hired
help) drop you in and cover up the hole. No need for cremation or
having the body exhumed. So why pay for what you do not need?

My brother asked me during this last go round of hospitilisation what
my wishes were. So I told him where the paperwork for the cremation was and
gave him a copy of my will.

The burial at sea option would work here, except that shrimp boats
would have to take the body at least 3 miles offshore before dumping
the body into the sea, along with poking holes in the box to make
    sure it sinks.

And scattering ashes on the beach is a no-no, along with throwing
them into the wind. Along with pouring them into waterways such as
the Mississippi River, which is muddy enough as it is, due to EPA
    regulations.

Far easier to just dig a hole. No paperwork needed, and not toxic
to the environment. Cremation is costly, and releases far too much
greenhouse gases into the atmosphere for what it is worth.

It is the marker one should focus on, as everybody deserves a
marker. Including the homeless who have nowhere to go even when
    they are gone.

Do you know what cities do with the remains of the homeless?
If next of kin cannot be found or located, the deceased are cremated,
with their remains taken to a local cemetery, and their ashes then
    scattered into the winds.

That is the only way I know of as to how to get a free cremation.

    Better to dig a hole.

    For Life,
    Lee
