I am curious about the National Cooking picnic. I seem to recall that
you mentioned going to one in 2007. Who organizes these picnics?
Where are they normally located?

We used to try to have a picnic each year. Covid put the brakes on
that, as did the death of two of our more prolific posters who had
hosted several each. The picnics were hosted by anyone who volunteered
to do so. Given the number of echo members, they are usually at the
house of the host these days, or sometimes at a nearby park.

You need to update your list, Dale. You left off the Haffly's picnic.

Sorry about that -- when was it? Michael must have forgotten about it when he made the list.
Most meat bought these days has enough of the fat trimmed off, so why
trim off more?

Thanks for your detailed answer. I guess i showed up late to the party.
It sounds like a pleasant way to meet folks and try new dishes.

I was told 2019. And MLoo was in attendance. As I am told, were you.

Amend it to add 2019/September/Wake Forest NC/Stephen and Ruth Haffly
I'd like to see it revived but with both Michael and Nancy gone & you
in the retirement home, the chances of that happening are small. Not impossible, but................

Odd. I recall some in Canada? Forgot about the OZ ones but yes.
2010, yes.

Come to think of it, the more logical explanation would be that Michael made that list before the 2019 picnic.

It is! It becomes a cacaphony of cuisines and tasting. People cooking in your kitchen (all were polite and cleaned up). It's common to have some alimited bility to have a few guestrooms. Michael Loo stayed in my back ebedroom for xample.
All hope is not lost for another one.

Our days of being able to host a picnic are indeed over. I think that
we might be able to drive to one if not too far. We both are limited
in our walking distance which would eliminate some types of side trips
for us.

Sadly, it's probably a thing of the past for the echo. We (Steve and
I) are probably the most logical choice for hosting another one but I'm afraid the number of participants would be even fewer than the last
one. We could travel to one, but again, the hosting of one by another participant is probably not very likely.

That does look good. Have you made it again or does this remind you
that you intend to make it again? (G) I usually don't buy taco
seasoning, have made my own with a mix of dried peppers (powders or flakes), cumin, a bit of powdered orange peel, pinch of salt and
whatever else strikes my fancy from my spice cabinet.

I agree, unless someone else steps up the echo picnics will be a thing
of the past.

I don't recall whether we ever did make it again or not. If we did,
Gail did not update the recipe in our book.
Speaking of blends, here is one that we once tried. Again, I don't
recall if we did it again -- just that it is not now a staple in our cabinet.
