    I have seen other Watergate Cake recipes but i like this one better.
    I got it from a colleague about a decade ago.

    MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: Watergate Cake
    Categories: Cake
    Yield: 12 -20 pieces

    MMMMM----------------------------CAKE---------------------------------
    1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
    3 Eggs
    1 cn Mandarin Oranges; (liquid
    -too)
    3/4 c Oil.

    MMMMM--------------------------TOPPING-------------------------------
    sm Box of Vanilla Instant
    -Pudding
    cn Crushed Pineapple
    Cool Whip

    Cake: Mix and bake at 325 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Topping: Mix the
    pineapple and pudding together. The mixture will thicken. Fold in one
    container of Cool Whip. When the cake is cool, apply topping. This is
    best after it has been in refrigerator for a while.

    Yield: 16 servings

    1 c Oil
    2 c Sugar
    3 lg Eggs
    3 c A-P flour
    1 1/2 c Applesauce
    1 ts Allspice
    1 1/2 ts Ground cinnamon
    1 ts Vanilla extract
    1/2 ts Salt
    1 1/2 ts Baking soda
    +=DISSOLVED IN=+
    1/4 c Warm water
    2 c Chopped pecans or walnuts

    MMMMM-------------------------FROSTING-------------------------------
    2 c Confectioners' sugar
    2 1/2 Bananas; mashed
    1/2 ts Vanilla
    1 Hacksaw blade; wrapped with
    - Saran Wrap

    Combine all cake ingredients (except nuts) in a large
    mixing bowl.

    Using a mixer, beat at high speed for about 2 minutes.

    Stir nuts into cake mix.

    Pour into a greased 13" x 9" cake pan.

    Bake @ 350ºF/175ºC for about 45 minutes or until center
    tests done.

    Let cake cool for an hour to just warm. Wrap it hacksaw
    blade in cling film and place on top of cake.

    Combine frosting ingredients and spread over still
    warm cake.

    3/4 c Oil

    1 c Lemon-lime soda
    1/2 c Coconut
    1 pk (3.5 oz) instant pistachio
    -pudding
    1 c Nuts; finely chopped,
    -(walnuts or pecans)

    MMMMM--------------------------FROSTING-------------------------------
    1 lg Container whipped topping
    1 pk (3.5 oz) instant pistachio
    -pudding
    1/2 c Coconut
    3/4 c Chopped nuts

    Cake:

    Mix all ingredients. Pour into greased 9x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees
    F for 40 minutes.

    Frosting:

    Mix whipped topping and pudding mix. Spread on cake. Sprinkle coconut
    and nuts on top.
