I already have my outfacing window plastered with the
international symbols for "no food or drink", "no toilet
paper", and "no public toilet". Perhaps I should add the one
for "no soliciting".
Don't forget to add "No loose change for the parkimeter"

No parking meters on our rural streets.
I don't mind helping people out if they are short of change for
a purchase (I keep about $10 of spare change to cover that).
I've paid the cab fair to send people home too.
I'm pretty sure I posted a picture in one of the echoes of the
signs on my neighbor's shop door. I'll get a fresh picture and
post that; there is NEW stuff since last time.

Most of these people never end up making a purchase.
If it was only 1 or 2 I would not mind, since it is a lot of people I risk having my change depleted so it is a no-no.
The problem here is that my business is the last open
business in this street, and the area is loaded with parking
meters. Solots of people end up walking up to my shop
because they want change.
A good percentage of them are actually trying to pass me
counterfeit money.

Sounds like a modern district then. I was picturing the quaint,
ancient, dark, narrow, foggy streets depicted in "The Shadow of
the Wind"

I know, however, that you can pay the parking with a mobile app
nowadays.
Here, you can pay for parking with coins, credit/debi card or phone app. P of choices. )

You are not wrong: it is an old neighbourhood, foggy and by
the river.
It is just they are putting parking meters everywhere :-(
I have less of a counterfeit problem now that itinerant
markets are banned due to covid. It was always the itinerant
sales people who were trying to pass me counterfeits. Also
counterfeit perfume and soap. Then gypsies complain that
everybody associates them with counterfeits HAHAHAHAHAHA.
circulate amongst their own kind. I'm thinking.. how would that
help ME if the newsletter is for THEM, and they probably don't
have time to read. I just brush them off by saying.."I'm sorry,
but [1] there is no way for me to confirm that I am speaking to
a legitimate officer", and [2] "I don't see how a small
circulation like your newsletter is a benefit to me." Then we
agree to hang up on each other. I'm thinking, "gypsies"?

We just got paying with a phone app for parking meters here in my city.
Then shortly after they were installed there was a "controversy"
because the data for the app was bring processed/stored in the US.
I don't usually park anywhere that required me to pay & if I do I keep some spare change in my car for just such an occasion. It's usually cheaper to drop a couple of coins in the machine than paying with the
app anyway.
I was going to visit your farmacia to check an address and maybe
see if I can get a google streetview, but I can't seem to reach
your site:

best thing to do is be nice and ask to be taken off their
list.

I know a few good spots with free parking around town, though one of
them was converted to paid parking during the height of COVID restrictions. The local council also updated a lot of parking meters
and expanded the coverage of app payments significantly.
with the app anyway.
Some of the apps here have a "convenience" fee, as well. Good reason to carry a gum container full of change in your glove box.
I miss ash trays in cars - they could be a handy place to store change.

Back in the first dot-com boom in 1999-2001, there was a block right
under the freeway, near the entrance to the Bay bridge. The entrance
was through one of the onramps to the bridge. It was probably the only block with parking and no 2-hour residential permit parking OR parking meters. You had to know where it was, otherwise you were in Oakland.

as an added fee. Depending on where you park the price is different
per hour (or per 30 minutes) - Where we parked last the price on the
meter was $1 per hour but the price in the app was $1.50 per hour.
