So, someone started a thread about old iron, classic computers connecting to BBSs.
I figured, why not have some love for new iron? Who's using these systems on something fresh and modern?
I'm dialling in with Syncterm on a Win10 machine I bolted together for games and dev work. (Don't crucify me, I work with .NET)
CPU: i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz

Boot Drive: 100GB SSD

The i7-8700K was only released just over 3 years ago, on October 5, 2017.. Overall, I think those specs aren't too bad, though the storage seems a bit low. Maybe the graphics card could be upgraded, but I think the 1080 is still fairly decent?

I really like Tomato myself... I've also used the others, and prefer
OpenWRT over DD-WRT. Right now, I'm using a Ubiquiti router and APs,
so kind of stuck with their UX that I don't care for.
Yeah, I ran Tomato on WRT54Gs and loved it. Loved the traffic graphs,
as I think I was on a 5gb cap back then!
I miss it... was much easier to work with imho than anything else I've
used.
Still on old iron. I am typing on an Apple Macintosh from '84... funnily enough it's the Macintosh's 37th anniversary today!*toooooooooot* ~~~ >=
I'm using a 2018 Thinkpad X1 Carbon
I7, 16 gig of ram

so I don't know what this is in reference to.
The architectural improvements the RTX3000 series dishes out is just unreal, I'm hoping to pick up a 3080, when they finally start appearing again. Chips are like hens teeth right now.
