I wonder what Art Bell would have thought about 2020. And Hunter S. Thompson. We could have used them right about now.

I imagine Art Bell would be into all kinds of conspiracy theories about COVID.

I so much like this BBS board. I haven't been here for a while and came back to discover and intersting movie and a tv person i had no idea about (I'm foreign to US).
Now I'm listening to Art Bell YT recording, interesting persona.

Art Bell was the man! It's a shame that George Noory sucks on Coast 2 Coast. ìWell, he doesn't "suck", but he's not very great. Art had a show that ìcontinued onward through to his death that was good, as well.

Art Bell got me through many long nights of graveyard work. I don't think I took anything I heart seriously but it definately was not boring. In my opinion it was also that last good thing on AM radio, now it's just fear mongering.

Early Art was great. He had an uncanny ability to suspend disbelief and give people a platform to share their ideas, no matter how far-fetched.

I'd always wanted John B. Wells to take over, liked him a lot more - seemed like he and George Noory didn't get along, though.

When my daughter was an infant, I'd listen to C2CAM on an FM Walkman during the oh-dark-hundred hour feedings. Otherwise, I'd never be up that late
these days! Later, I found a little am/fm radio that recorded to MP3 on
eBay, with a timer. I have a hard drive of old shows here somewhere.

What bugs me about coast-to-coast is taht all the 'guests' are paid advertisements. Everyone seems to be selling a book, access to a website, or a health supplement.

Art Bell used to have 'guests' who he'd interview and have conversations
with. And a few years ago, Georgy Noory had a guest host on the weekends, who had a really deep voice, who'd comically challenge the guests with statements like 'good lord' but they wouldn't hear it becasue they were working thru a script. That guy had better ratings than Noory so, naturally, they fired him.

    Good times.

Coast-to-coast is also 50% commercials too. So, I haven't heard it in a long time.

You're right, Art Bell had an interesting show. I remember, late 90s, when that cult killed themselves. Everyone started interviewing him because he was talking
alot about the comet the cult suicided over as if it was his fault. It certainly
    helped with his ratings.

That was the show I listened to after getting out the Navy and was dealing with insomnia during college.

I'm burnt out listening to talk radio. It's not just C2C, most radio show gue sts are there to sell a book or pitch their own media channels, so the line
is blurred between what it content and what is advertising. Even the local gu y that airs a couple of hours after work is constantly pushing projects or businesses he has partnered with, so it's hard to tell if he's jsut rambling o n about something he likes or the show has a new sponsor.

When you get the chance, turn on Smerconish on SiriusXM. He leans left but discusses both sides and welcomes guests from both sides of the aisle.
