    • When you press a menu key that doesn't exist would you rather...
    • I've noticed some menus give an error when you use a key that
    • doesn't exist. Some don't do anyting at all or redraw the
    • screen. Which do you prefer?
    • 1) Give an "invalid key" or similar message
    • 2) No error just keep the menu displayed

Depends. Back when I was using a 2400 baud modem and turning expert mode on wherever possible to save menu redraw time, I preferred minimal action. My own returns you to main on un-indexed key, but I will likely be redoing that at some point as it's extreme legacy. When I first did my sbbs menus I was trying to largely replicate what I had on my old RA board, which was modeled on other boards in my area that did that, so it was what callers in my town expected. I've recently been told that seems to not be the expectation of the larger audience.
