This one is running Windows 2012r2 with 4 megs of ram. I tried Linux but wasn't familiar enough to really want it.

Years ago, I owned my own Dell server running Debian Linux. At one point it ran for nearly 3 years without a shut down. I only took it down temporarily to add more ram. I had 80 of my customers websites on it, each with their own IP address.

But I had an IT guy maintaining it for me at the cost of $350.00 per month! I was making a lot of money every month to cover the cost and still made a nice profit. But I sold my customer base to a company when I turned 65 and don't make that kind of money anymore.

Anyway, Linux is not for me, and at $7.00 per month, Windows is a great fit for me.

We use some Hetzner server at the clinic for hosting unimportant files (such as report
templates, legalesse templates and such). Performance is not what Hetzner is known for, but for
secondary services it is hard to get cheaper VPS that still do the trick.

you can go on lowendbox and find some vpses.

i used to use vps providers before just getting a dedicated server and doing everything myself.

i do not really trust them. i've had some crooked ones and also some that had connection issues. that's the price of going cheap.

one guy cut my access when i was doing a file transfer. then he accused me of running a xbox booter program. i later found out that's what he did, and he
was a kid. he had a businesss selling booter scripts and vpses that did that shit and other shady things.

he ignored my emails so i went on webhosting talk and warned people and in like 5 mins he was replying and posting fake logs and msgs from us. i saved screenshots of the real shit and posted it.

i looked his ass up and posted all his shit and found his number and called him up at home.

i got my money back from paypal and he was kicked off and he can't do business with them anymore.

    Thanks for the tip.

We host everything that really matters in our own servers. The external stuff is for things we don't mind having leaked or took down. With European regulations it is a pain in the ass to have a third party custody important data from your customers.
