    October 9: National Submarine-Hoagy-Hero-Grinder Day

    MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: Hot Hero Sandwiches
    Categories: Breads, Pork, Beef, Vegetables, Cheese
    Yield: 3 Servings

    1 Loaf French or Italian bread
    1 tb Butter
    1/4 ts Dried oregano
    1/4 lb Thin sliced smoked ham
    1/4 lb Thin sliced hard salami
    1/4 lb Thin sliced deli pepperoni
    5 sl Emmenthaler cheese
    1 sm Tomato; thin sliced
    2 sl Sweet onion; rings
    - separated
    Shredded lettuce
    Salt & pepper
    10 oz Bottled Italian dressing

    Cut loaf in half lengthwise. Spread butter on cut sides
    and sprinkle with oregano.

    On bottom half, layer ham, salami, pepperoni, cheese,
    tomato, onion and lettuce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper
    to taste and drizzle with Italian dressing. Top with
    upper half of loaf.

    Wrap tightly in aluminum foil and warm in a 300 degree
    oven for 15 to 20 minutes to combine flavors. Remove
    from oven and cut into serving size peices. May be
    rewarmed in microwave oven.

    Title: Italian Beef Hoagies
    Categories: Five, Beef, Breads, Vegetables.
    Yield: 18 servings

    4 lb Sirloin tip roast; halved
    2 Envelopes Italian salad
    - dressing mix
    2 c Water
    16 oz Jar mild pickled pepper
    - rings; undrained
    18 Hoagie buns; split

    Place roast in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine the salad
    dressing mix and water; pour over roast. Cover and cook
    on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender.

    Remove meat; shred with two forks and return to the slow
    cooker. Add pepper rings; heat through. Spoon 1/2 cup
    meat mixture onto each bun.
