    Kc2ugv, can I ask what setup you have for your solar and primary power storage?

    Currently, a 30W solar panel, with a 40Ah battery bank. I'm shopping around for a panel upgrade, as I believe the current panel wont be sufficient for winter time. I'm guessing I'll need a 100W panel to keep the bank topped up.

    In the interim, I babysit the voltage, and when it dips too low, I connect it to my car, and top up in an hour or so.

    The batteries could probably be better: I'm using sealed lead acid, 6Ah
    cells. Only using these, because they were free. And, free often overrides optimal :) Maybe a deep cycle marine battery.

    The panel itself can run the Pi alone, in full sun. TBH, I don't know it's loaded voltage. It does have a little left over in the brightest hours to at least allow the system to keep going for ~8 days.

    Again, I don't have the specifics, really. I should take these measurements, and I've been pricing out the sensors I'd need for the Pi to get them, and
    log them. I should probably move that up on the project list.
