Well The Outwest BBS has been offline for about 1 week due to my VPS having a hardware meltdown, Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.
Due to hardware issues on thier side my VPS was painfully slow to the point I just shut it down till they fixed it.

you should probably post stuff like this on your website instead of a networked msg area.

anyways, thems the breaks with vpses. they oversell and they are ran by idiots. you may have gone through a few owners and not even know it as well. ---

You might know this already, but it does take a few days for the changes to go through. Unless you're having issues with your domain provider saving the changes.

I can check to see what your domain is being resolved to, if you would like.

What service do you use to direct people to you?? I used no-ip as they redirect traffic to me, you'll need to talk to someone whodoes this.

I use to have a static IP address and I had godaddy send all the traffic to that IP address.

People can still logon using your IP address because you need to tell the
name servers what you are up to.... I think they are called MX records.

Isn't MX records for E-Mails (Mail eXchange), I thought that it was A records that provided the IP address when doing look ups?

I don't think it takes that long. After updating your IP with your domain, I always thought it should only take maybe a couple hours at most for the domain to point to the new IP address.

I think you are right; it must be the name server updates I'm thinking of; A and CNAME records aren't as long.

No MX records tell SMTP servers where to send mail for a particular domain to. You need valid A records to resolve a hostname into an IP(v4) address.

It depends on the TTL of the A record in question. If the TTL is short, or you haven't accessed that record in a while, the change should be quick. If the TTL is long, then you have to wait for your resolver cache to expire that record. You can also try flushing the DNS resolver cache. In Windows, that's simple:

    ipconfig /flushdns

However, if your desktop DNS points to your router, that also needs its resolver cache flushed, usually a router reboot is the quickestway to do that.

Yes, delegation can take up to 48 hours, though in my experience, it's often much faster (seconds to hours).
