newsflash. we all have facebook and twitter accounts.

I don't have an account with either of those two websites.

I can truly say, it never happened Captain!.

I have used a BBS since the Middle 1980's.
I'm not bragging - You probably were running a BBS before I owned a PC.

Several Years before I got My first PC (a Commodore 64) I used Radio
Teletype (RTTY and ASCII) to a few Local Amateur Radio BBS's with a
Video Terminal & Keyboard made by Netronics.

Later I got on a BBS using Digicom 2.0 with My C=64 for Amateur Radio Packet.

Having a BBS Account and a Email Account is all I need, so far........

why would you want to get rid of it? all you do is use it how you want.

If you don't use it often enough, by FB's standards, it will start sending
you pester e-mails. Sort of like the notification emails that you can turn off, except you cannot (apparently) turn these off and they often notify
you about people/things that you have otherwise specifically asked it not
to notify you about... like maybe the activity of someone who is a "friend"
but that you do not "follow."

It is pretty annoying. I have found if I log on once a day and check my notifications, it usually won't do that. However, if I have all
notifications turned off I should not have to do that.

That is one reason I might want to get rid of it as it is one way I cannot
    use it how I want.

they will hold it for like 14 days then delete the account. they also will suspend it and you can come back. you used to be able to get it deleted right on the spot but not anymore.

I enjoy using Twitter but Facebook is a nightmare for me. Just tooooo much nonsense. And it gets worse each year. BBS's is where social media got it's start. IRC, BBS Telnet. Then came the WWW. It's been all downhill for BBS users ever since. Not me. I'm still here. As long as someone wants to keep a board going I'm all in!

Nah.. You can close your account on Facebook but not delete it. Just in case you change your mind. Unlike BBS's where your account is deleted and you have to fill out a new user application. When that happens to me I just delete the board from my phone book. I can feel out a new application anywhere.
